Robert Marshman

Robert Marshman, 93, of Plainview, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Robert Henry Marshman was born August 10, 1930, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester to Herb and Edna Marshman who farmed south of Plainview. He was raised and worked on that farm and sold Pride Seed Corn. Bob graduated from Plainview High School in 1948. In 1952 he married Maureen Streiff of Pine Island. Following his marriage, he was deployed to fight in the Korean war. Upon discharge in 1953, he returned home to farm with his brother Ben.

Bob and Maureen had two children, Brenda and Bryan. They enjoyed family camping trips with friends. They were avid Square Dancers for over 40 years. Bob and Maureen traveled to Florida every winter and had many friends there as well. Bob served on Plainview Township Board for 44 years. A job he loved! He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge, Plainview American Legion and was on the board at Peace United Methodist Church. Later in life, Bob would sell his raspberries at the local farmer’s market. He loved to talk to people. He often said the secret to getting along with people is “Make sure your brain is engaged before you put your mouth in gear”. Bob will be missed dearly by all that know him.

He is survived by his wife Maureen, children, Brenda (Mike) Simon and Bryan Marshman (Wendy Granrud), grandchildren, Josh (Sara) Marshman, Mindy (Steve) Sandberg, Justin (Beth) Marshman, Matt (Jen) Simon and Lisa (Paul) Stimets, greatgrandchildren, Gillian, Mollie, Juliette, Eloise, Roy, Marshall, Madilyn, Paxton, Laurelai, Ryan and Evan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ben.

Funeral services are Tuesday, October 17, 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Methodist Church, rural Plainview, with Pastor Abigail Ozanne officiating. The Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Plainview Township. Visitation is Tuesday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
