Lyle Bartsh Obituary

Lyle Chester Bartsh, 84 of Plainview Minnesota died on March 8, 2024.  He was born, raised and passed on his beloved family farm of Fischer Hill.

Lyle was born April 11, 1939, to Chester & Avis (Sherwood) Bartsh at their home on Fischer Hill.  He was baptized and confirmed at Bethelhem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elba MN.  He attended Fischer Hill school and went to St. Charles High School where he graduated in 1956.

He then married Shirley Dailey in 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Plainview where he was a lifetime member.

He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.  During this time, he also worked for IBM in Rochester.  In 1975 he and his wife Shirley moved back to the family farm where they raised their 4 boys.

Lyle had a lifetime passion for horses and farming.  He enjoyed numerous parades with his horses and parades with his tractors.  He was a member of Plainview Elgin Riders Saddle Club, Local Coon Hunters Club and Greenwood Prairie Classic Iron Club.

Later in life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren, deer hunting, riding his ranger and having coffee with his friends at Elba and Rollingstone and of course Schmidt beer.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of 61 years.  His sons Mark (Missy) Bartsh, Randy (Jo Stevenson) Bartsh, Rodney (Denise) Bartsh and Kevin (Sally) Bartsh.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley Bartsh.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating.  Burial will follow after the lunch at Valley Home Cemetery (Fairwater) in Elba MN.  Feel free to wear jeans to the services.

Visitation will be at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 4:00-7:00pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the Church.

Military graveside rights will be conducted by the Plainview American Legion.

The family wishes to thank Mayo Hospice for their amazing compassionate care.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or MN Adult & Teen Challenge.
