Joyce Haack Obituary

Joyce J. Haack of Plainview, Minnesota was called to her heavenly home on
Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Joyce was born on
October 27, 1925, to Charles and Helen (Willers) Fick, in Lake City, Minnesota.
She was one of two children.  On March 9, 1944, she married Donald E. Haack
at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. They were married for 68
years. Joyce was a gifted pianist, studying at the Chicago Conservatory of
Music.  She loved to play classical music such as Bach, Beethoven, Handel, etc.
She taught piano lessons locally for 35 years.   She was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Plainview where she sang in the Senior Choir, sang many
duets with her husband at weddings and funerals, she taught Sunday School
for many years, was a member of Ladies Aid and attended various Bible
Classes.  She and her husband Don were involved in Sages, an older adult
ministry of the Minnesota South District (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod).
She was an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers.  She enjoyed reading,
watching news shows and, of course, Hallmark holiday movies.  Her humor was
so much fun; she loved to tease.  She loved cooking and baking.  Her apple pie
was a favorite among her family. Her motto in life was, “keep a positive attitude!”
Joyce had three children: Lloyd (Pat) Haack of Eden Prairie, Minnesota,
Virginia (Phil) Giese of Merrill, Wisconsin, and Brian (Laura) Haack of
Plainview.  She had five grandchildren: Kendis (Les) Charles, Johnathan Haack,
Kristine (Jake) Schneider, Kara Haack and Logan Haack.  Also, two great-
grandchildren: Nolah and Kylah Charles.  She loved her visits with family,
especially going out to eat with them and ordering her favorite shrimp dinner.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, and brother. Al
Fick, of Plainview. All memorials are requested to be sent directly to Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Plainview, Minnesota.
Joyce’s family wishes to thank Pastor Phil Augustine, the Green Prairie Assisted
Living and Nursing Home for the care they have given Joyce the past several
years.  She enjoyed the staff and had her favorites…too many to mention.
A private graveside service will be Thursday, March 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at
Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating.
