Gregory Robert Owens, age 52, of St. Charles died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 28th 2021. He was born on March 11th 1969 to Gene and Jerrie Owens in Rochester, MN.
Greg spent his childhood in Douglas, MN. He attended John Marshall High School in Rochester and graduated in 1987.
Greg married the love of his life, Lisa (Wendt) Owens on September 10th 1994 in Elba, Minnesota. Together they raised two children, Malory and Gavin. His world revolved around his kids and they were the absolute pride and joy of his life.
Greg worked at Mayo Clinic where he was an Interventional Neurovascular Radiology Technician. Before he took employment at Mayo Clinic, he was an Electronic Technician at IBM, Benchmark, and Celestica.
Greg was an avid outdoorsmen and was on the Pro-Staff for Avery Outdoors, Banded, Greenhead Gear, and Field Proven Calls. His love for the outdoors began early in his childhood and grew into a deep rooted passion that he shared with his kids, and friends from all over the country. He not only loved hunting and fishing but he was dang good at it, too. He loved introducing his passions to anyone that showed an interest and would talk your ear off about decoy spreads or how important it was to have the right hide.
When he wasn’t hunting, Greg loved fishing. Lakes, rivers, ponds, or through the ice- it didn’t matter. He was infamous for stretching out a fishing day as long as possible, even if the bite was slow. Taking fishing trips up to Leech Lake and Grand Marais was a treasured family tradition that his wife and kids will carry on.
Greg was also a classic car enthusiast. Growing up he loved drag racing in his 1976 Cutlass Supreme that he had gifted to him by his grandmother for painting her house. He spent countless hours in the garage with some of his lifelong friends turning his grandmas Oldsmobile into a lean mean street racing machine. As the stories go, Greg and his Cutlass embarrassed a few people on the race track.
Greg is survived by his wife, Lisa; his daughter Malory and son in law Lucas Peterson; his son Gavin Owens and his hunting dog Jax. He was preceded in death by his mother Jerrie Owens and his grandparents Joe and Winnie Owens and Jim and Alice Jensen
