Frederic Liebenow Obituary

Frederic Martin Liebenow died in his sleep on October 20th, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy.  Fred was born on April 1st, 1960, to Hugh and Corinne (Heins) Liebenow, and was raised on the family farm. Fred was a quiet and shy homebody, until Kristie came down to the barn and made him talk to her. Within a month of dating, he asked her, “So, do you want a big wedding, or can we just elope?” (I think he was hoping to elope). Fred and Kristie (Kirlin) got married on May 16th, 1998.  He said he was lucky enough to get a two for one deal and became an instant dad to Kristie’s daughter Jayme. They quickly added three more babies to the family.  Fred loved being a dad and adored all four of his children.  And he had the “Dad Jokes” down to a science!  After his disease took away his ability to do anything physical, he still kept his sense of humor, and loved to laugh and spend time with his kids and dogs.  South Dakota was his happy place, and he was able to take one last trip there in May, for his 25th wedding anniversary, with all the kids in tow.  Fred worked at Dairyland Equipment/Leedstone for 22 years, until his health issues made him retire.

He is survived by his wife Kristie, daughters Jayme Kirlin of Rochester, Kaylin Liebenow of Plainview, sons Sean (Trinity) Liebenow and Ryan (Dakota) Liebenow, all of Plainview. His mom Corinne Liebenow of Potsdam, brothers Charlie Liebenow of Rochester and Hanns Liebenow of Potsdam, sisters Virginia (Rick) Lilla of Rochester and Krista (Steve) Davies of Nodaway, Iowa.  And several beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his dad, Hugh Liebenow and both sets of grandparents.

Funeral service is Friday, October 27, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Josh Moldenhauer officiating. The burial will be at a later date, at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. The visitation is Thursday, 5-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
