Dorothy Elizabeth Klees

Dorothy Elizabeth Klees, 97, of Rochester, MN, passed away on August 23, 2022.

She was born August 4, 1925 in Wabasha County to Theodore and Gertrude (Hurtgen) Evers of Conception.

Dorothy graduated from Plainview High School June 3, 1943. On June 19, 1943 she married Francis Klees. They farmed in the Conception area with the focus on raising their family.

The family was active members of the Immaculate Conception Church. They enjoyed the many family parties and family reunions. Dorothy also enjoyed the Cheerio card club and the Home Extension group. She was a creative decorator, sewer, flower gardener, cook and baker.

After retirement she traveled, volunteered at the Sheldon Theater and Reads Landing Historical Society. She belonged to garden clubs, bible study groups, square dancing and German clubs. Dorothy always looked forward to family events.

Survived by her children; Ruth Freese-Higgins, Rochester, Joan (Gary) Snider, Richfield, MN, Mike Klees, Waukon, Iowa; Daughter-in-law Paulette Klees, Plainview and Mary Klees of Wabasha; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Mary Wallerich, Wabasha, brother, Michael Evers, Golden Valley, Brother-in-law Paul Klees, Wabasha and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband Francis and sons. Richard and Daniel, Daughter-in-law Elizabeth, sons -in-law, Kenneth Freese and Arnie Higgins, grandson, Eric Freese and great-granddaughter, Finley Snider, brother, Ted Evers, sister-in-law, Beverly Evers and Carol Evers and brother-in-law Joe Wallerich.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in rural Kellogg, with Msgr. Tom Melvin officiating. Burial will follow the service in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Conception, rural Kellogg. The visitation is Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service at the church.
