Chad Schmit Obituary

Chad Edwin Schmit, age 35, of Plainview died unexpectedly in St Paul while attending/exhibiting at the MN Beef Expo on Thursday, October 21st 2021. He was born on March 18th 1986 to Earl and Laurie (Rademacher) Schmit in Rochester, MN.

Chad was raised in Plainview, MN. He attended Plainview High School and graduated in 2004.

Chad worked at Lehnertz Farms as a herdsman and general farm laborer. Before he took employment there, he worked on his family’s farm, KBS in their farm construction dept and as an automobile detailer for CJ Auto.

Chad was an avid outdoorsmen that loved bowhunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors began early in his childhood and grew into a deep- rooted passion that he shared with his family, and friends. He not only loved bowhunting and fishing but he was very good at it, too. He loved introducing his passions to anyone that showed an interest and would talk your ear off about hunting and livestock stories.

When he wasn’t hunting, Chad’s true passion in life was exhibiting beef cattle. He was very partial to his Shorthorn beef cattle herd that he started building at a young age while participating in 4H and FFA. Chad won multiple awards and honors in his years of exhibiting beef cattle at various fairs and expositions. He took great pride and joy introducing and helping youth participants gain knowledge and experience in livestock exhibiting. He was well respected and beloved by all who met him in the beef livestock industry, especially in the state Shorthorn Association.

Chad is survived by his father Earl Schmit; his mother Laurie (Rademacher) Schmit; his brother Jeremy Schmit and his yellow lab Captain. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Edwin and Wilhelmine (Wills) Schmit and maternal grandparents Phillip and Verena (Becker) Rademacher.
