Alice Marie Koball, 93, died Friday, December 10th at Cedar Court Assisted Living in Adams, MN.
Alice was born March 20, 1928 to John and Hilda (Heide) Ferkingstad in Cresco, Iowa. She attended grade school in Cresco and graduated from Lime Springs Independent School in 1946. Alice then completed two years of college at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Alice played basketball all 4 years of high school. She also had the lead role in Junior and Senior class plays at Lime Springs.
She married Gerhardt (Gary) Koball, November 28, 1948 in Cresco. They moved around a few times and then moved to Brownsdale, MN 1960-1973, then moved to Plainview, MN. Alice worked for 16 years at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Plainview. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, gardening traveling, puzzles and loved her candy. Her husband Gary died March 4, 2006.
Alice is survived by six grandchildren; Carla (Dan Benson) Masching, Shelly (Doug Yotter) Pater, Holly (Matt) Adams, Heather (Adam) Olson, Brett (Dr. Afton) Koball, Braydon (Kendra) Koball; 16 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law Janet Koball; Sister-in-laws, Barbara Ferkingstad and Evelyn Armstrong, many nieces and nephews, and special friends Eleanore and Darrel Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 son Richard, 1 daughter Sharon, brother Edwin and son-in-law David.
Funeral service is Friday, December 17, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Friday, 9:30 a.m. till the time of service at the church.
