Logan Grummons Obituary

Logan Fay Grummons, 77, of Plainview, MN. passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023 at home with his family by his side after he fought a courageous battle against cancer and other medical conditions caused by Agent Orange exposure while serving in the Vietnam War.

Logan was born in Wabasha, Mn. on April 5, 1945, to Fay Grummons and Eva (Zarling) Grummons. Logan graduated from Plainview High School in 1963.  While in high school, he had a love for sports. He enjoyed playing basketball, football, baseball, and track.

In October 1965, Logan was drafted into the United States Army. Logan served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1967. He was a multi engine airplane repair man and he served in the First Calvary division.  Logan was honorably discharged from the United States Army in October 1971.  After returning home from Vietnam Logan married Joan Schad on October 21, 1967.  Logan worked for the Plainview Creamery from 1967 to 1970.  In 1970 Logan and Joan moved to Chicago, Illinois and resided there for eighteen months.  While in Illinois, Logan worked at Clearlam Packaging Company, which was owned by his best Army friend.  In 1971 Logan and Joan moved back to Plainview, MN. and Logan hauled milk for his uncle Vernon Zarling.  On February 1, 1973 Logan started his own milk hauling business  “Grummons Milk Transport”. Logan hauled milk for forty one and a half years and excelled well in his milk hauling business.  He had a total of four trucks that ran every day.  In 2014 Logan was forced to retire, due to management at PMPC.  In 2015, Logan started a part time business selling gourmet meat and seafood for two years.

Logan enjoyed bowling, casinos, Vikings, Minnesota Twins, boat rides, cooking, old time western movies, oldies music (50s and 60s), and spending time with his family.  Logan was an avid animal lover.

Logan is survived by his three daughters:  Wendy (Gary) Schneider, Jodi (Larry) Ploof, Alison Mussell, six grandchildren:  Courtney Schneider, Brayden Schneider, Zachary Ploof (Melissa Folkert), Whitney Ploof, Chelsey Ploof, Kirsten (Matt) Mauer, and one great grandson Grayson Fenton.  He is survived by one brother Neil (Bonnie) Grummons, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Grummons, father Fay Grummons, mother Eva Grummons, father-in-law Art Schad, and mother-in-law Viola Schad.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their care and support.
